Faux Pelini for Purdue Head Coach

By Boda (master of parenthetical statements)

It was a pretty exciting and entertaining CFCC Week 7, with several very close games, near upsets, and crazy finishes. Those of you had had UCF beating Temple had to painfully watch that pick crater as Temple marched down the field in the closing seconds and drop a winning touchdown on your head. North Carolina State unbelievably choked away a last second victory against Clemson. And Ohio State came back for an overtime victory against a game Wisconsin team at Camp Randall. Not sure what in the world has happened to Notre Dame and Georgia. Five losses by the Fighting Irish have put Brian Kelly on the hot seat (did he actually blame God for the Stanford loss, as rumored ? Ok, probably not). There is a coaching vacancy now in West Lafayette, Indiana – where Bo Pelini and his cat (no Trump jokes please) are rumored to be the favorites to take over. Even to the point where Faux Pelini came out of retirement to tweet “ .@PurdueSports Do you offer a competitive benefits package ?” Faux Pelini has my write-in vote. Other candidates include Les Miles (they have grass in Ross-Ade), Art Briles (nope, not yet), Steve Spurrier (not an astronaut), and an anonymous special teams coach at Alabama (most likely choice, since choosing an Alabama assistant worked so well for Georgia).

Week 8 CFCC features some high quality games, like Alabama and Texas A&M, Wisconsin and Iowa, Louisville and NC State (new field goal kicker), TCU at West Virginia, and Colorado at Stanford. Going into the weekend, Sam Lucci of Collierville TN continues to lead the overall CFCC standings, with Danny Gant and Andrew Kennedy each climbing a couple of spots after last week. We’re at the halfway point of the CFCC regular season and 69 players are still within 100 points of first place. One great week can make up the difference in a hurry – so don’t miss any games. In group play, Florida Dummies (I don’t know what a swing state is but I’m willing to find out), a bunch of Bucknutz, We’re Here to WOW Ya! (WOW is an acronym for what ?), Dawgzilla (zilla), and Write-In Candidates (we suggest writing in Dirty-Dawg on your ballot) are all above 400 points at the halfway mark. The rest of you have some catching up to do. Also, congratulations to Ric Bavin of Northwood (OH - How I hate Ohio State) for winning Week 7 with a 14-1 record. Ric (no k) only missed a 2 confidence on UCLA. Honorable mention goes to Maggie Myers of North Aurora (Wayne’s World), IL for going 13-2, with just an overtime loss by Bucky and a close one with Ole Miss keeping her from a perfect week.
