dirty-dawg Thoughts
Remembering the 21st Night of September. And the 22nd and 23rd.
by: Sugar (September 26, 2024)
With apologies to Earth, Wind and Fire, one of THE best bands of the 1970s, it is time to look back at the 21st night (and day) of September, hereafter referred to
as CFCC Week 4. We are learning more about the 2024 college football landscape with each passing week. For instance, Michigan looks better than originally thought, or
USC was too highly thought of, but if the former is true, Texas is probably really, really good as suggested in this column a couple of weeks ago. James Madison hung
70 on North Carolina in a game where both teams totals almost went over the Vegas Over/Under. Miami of Florida continues to chug along and Tennessee looks like a force
to be reckoned with in the SEC.
Mack Morris of New Braunfels, TX also looks like a force to be reckoned with as he was up one spot from Week 3 to take over the lead and has opened up a 22 point lead over
previous leader, Matt Rendall. Mack had a 54 point performance during a week that only had a brutal 29 point average. Courtney Carpenter from Roseville, CA remains in 3rd
place with a 48 point week and is 42 points back of Big Mack. For Week 4 itself, Phil Stiegman of Sierra Vista, AZ was the winner with a crazy 88 point performance on an
11-4 record. Phil missed the first 4 games of the week (NC State, UNC, Coastal Carolina and USC). Then he ran the table. Aaron Davis from Shreveport was the Week 4 runner-up
with 82 points, also with 11 victories. Checking on the other side of the coin, David Carroll from Saint Albans, WV had about as much go wrong as possible clocking in with
-66 points and a 5-10 record. Hang in there, David, better weeks are ahead! Snoop's Clean Canines, presented by WFO EWX continues to pace group play with an average score
of 221.17 points, which is a tad over 3 points ahead of Water Wizards and The Andy Griffith Show. We will know even more about college football after the highly anticipated
Georgia at Alabama tilt this Saturday
Switching over to the 22nd and 23rd days and nights of September, or PFCC Week 3, we see it was another brutal week for the dirty-dawg field with an average score of -25.
Yes, that's a minus sign in front of the two and five. Only 18 players did better than zero, with Bryan Greenblatt the genius with 44 points on an 8-7 record. Danielle Sanchez
from Colorado Springs had a good record at 11-4 and finished as Week 3 runner-up with 40 points. Overall, dirty-dawg veteran Paul Witsaman continues to lead with 113 points.
Danielle Knittle from Endicott, NY is in 2nd place with 111 points while Trevor(lution) Boucher from Salt Lake City (fix your resident city T-Rev!) resides in 3rd place With
109 points. Picks So Hard, We Broke Our WRISD continues to lead the group efforts with 47.4 points, ahead of 2nd Place CRaP We Forgot and Hurricane Elvis.
As we head into another football-filled weekend, both game forms are up and ready for your expert action. Let's shoot for positive average scores in both contests this week.
Good luck!
