Hold on Just a Second ! Week 1 CFCC is in the Books and it's Against the Spread Too !

By: Boda (2026-09-08)

So, our traditional Week 1 College Football Confidence Contest got off to a rip-roaring start this Labor Day Weekend.Β  Typically, the inaugural week features a bunch of games that were scheduled as warm-ups for teams eyeing a playoff berth.Β  This year, however, the big news was the University of Michigan pulling a massive upset over the Western Michigan Broncos (who are by the way the 2025 NCAA Men's Hockey National Champions).Β  Of course, there were the numerous and obligatory conspiracies about how that could have occurred. You may have heard there was a purported clock malfunction at the end of the game and that one team got screwed when all the clocks weren't sync'd. Below we have the photographic evidence that WMU was in on the whole thing.Β

or... maybe this below was the evidence we were looking for ?Β  Who knows what's true anymore !Β

Michigan too ??Β  Does anyone know the whereabouts of Spartan Bob ??

In other conspiratorial news, we are officially debunking that Aaron Donald did not sign and play for the LSU Tigers this weekend. Confused ? Hey... he wasn't on the Ram's plane to Australia.Β  We'll just have to get back to you on that one.Β  And, yes, Dabo Sweeney is now a low-level assistant coach for the Cleveland Browns.Β  That's a stone-cold fact.Β  Β

In dirty-dawg news, we also have an obligatory undefeated champion in a CFCC Week 1. That would be Scott Franke of Kansas City, MO. Scott is followed closely by Rusty Painter, Judy Vesper, Nathan Jones and Tom Fannin. All of those people are AI generated by-the-way.Β  As is this article.Β

In CFCC Group Play, let's first award the Ribbon for best-named team.Β  This year, I'm going old style and selecting Florida Dummies: Legacy.Β  For two reasons. They remember the T-shirts (yes, I have one - embroidered no less), and they referenced Philip Fulmer and a Costo-sized can of baked beans in their team description.Β  No one else came close.Β  Honorable Mention goes to GEN ZFP (let's just say the phrase "Absolute GOAT behavior, no cap" just brings a smile to my face); and also, Delta Tango XRay for the first ever Animal House reference in dirty-dawg history.Β

Last, riding the coattails of Scott Franke, The Border War Still Lives in KC leads the Group Play standing out of the gate.Β  Β They are followed closely by Boomerbacks and Hillers Thrillers.Β

Really, this is the last bullet. We debuted a new contest this week called CFCC-ATS or College Football Confidence Contest Against the Spread.Β  Pick your winners against the spread and then rank your picks by confidence factor.Β  This is how we find out how good you really are.Β  We had just 56 players dare to try this week, but we challenge everyone else to give it a shot. We'll have more on Thursday. Let's just that we are not a gambling site - but if we were, we'd be banned from Vegas after just one week ;-).Β

Just one more bullet. The Week 2 Game Form is ready and the clock(s) are ticking with temporal drift.Β  The games are much better this week we hope.Β
