Darish Rides Buckeye Shade to Week 2 Championship

By: Sugar (2026-09-13)

Two CFCC weeks are already in the books here at dirty-dawg.com. One of the many new features this season is a front page podium section for both the individual and group weekly champions. Our Week 1 winners exercised their right to remain silent. But Michigan native, Becca Darish, who currently resides in Huntsville, AL has broken the seal and posted her Week 2 championship methodology:

"You may ask how I did it? Simple, I hate OSU and love Michigan and picked accordingly"

Ouch! Well, as a fellow Michiganian, I know you grow up hating three college teams in this order: Ohio State, Notre Dame, and then Michigan or Michigan State. And while Becca made good calls by riding with 3 on Michigan and 6 on Texas, it was really her only missing 5 on Illinois and 2 on Navy that propelled her winning week. But any way you slice it, Becca scored 106 points and 13 wins to take Week 2. Congratulations!Β  David Shuler from Byrds, SC was the Week 2 runner-up also with 106 points on 12 wins. David didn't win the week, but he did propel himself 19 spots into the overall leader position. David now has 214 points with a stellar 25-5 record. Right behind him is Jacob Ventimiglia from New Baltimore, MI with 204 points and Michael Anand from Albuquerque is in third pace with 202 overall points.

Over in the popular group play department, dual-contest group powerhouse BoomerBacks leads the way with an average score of 180.50 points after posting the best average score of the week for all groups at 80.75. Hailraisers, Hillers Thrillers and Hurricane Elvis are close behind, early in the 2026 contest.Β

Big position swings are the name of the game between Week 1 and Week 2 and that was no different this time around. Peyton Gillespie, Brent Ryder, Jeff Frame and Todd Shoemake were all up over 200 spots for Week 2! The Top Dawg pick of the week went to William McKeown-Robbie with a bold 13 on Florida Atlantic, while the worst Dawg Pile picks were secured by 3 players (Brian Swinford, Tyler Fleming and Makayla Tharpe), who pinned their hopes to a hapless Arkansas team.

A picture of a sleepy dirty-dawg intern, up way past midnight, waiting for the end of blowout football game between Utah and Arkansas with Utah doing the blowing out!
Spare a thought for the dirty-dawg intern, who is still parked in front of the screen waiting on Utah-Arkansas to mercifully run out of clock. Nobody needs to see the fourth quarter of that one. The result was filed away sometime around halftime. But the rules are the rules, and Week 2 scoring doesn't post until the last whistle blows. So the kid sits there, chin sliding off his fist, waiting on a blowout to finish so the rest of you can find out how badly you butchered your big-point picks. AI-generated illustration

And as usual, sports media and fans everywhere put way too much emphasis on what happened in Week 1. You're welcome for not having the Oregon at Oklahoma State tilt on the CFCC Week 2 games list! My guess is we will be in for more surprises as we watch the Week 3 games unfold. Until then, make sure to check out the all-new dirty-dawg Top 12, which is our own version of the Top 12 (aka CFP teams). The new poll will be available on Sunday evenings throughout the remainder of the contest season. The top 10% of players in the overall standings at the end of each week receive an email invitation to select their best 12 teams within 24 hours. So, if you receive an invitation, please vote! Otherwise, good luck with CFCC Week 3!
